Q: When are District and Regional trials?

A: To find out information on District and Regional Trials – check out the Sporting Calendar. District Trials are highlighted in green and Regional Trials are highlighted in yellow.

Q: Where can I/my student receive permission to trial forms?

A: When trial information becomes available, it will be advertised in the school notices. These notices will be read to students by their Classroom Teacher (Middle Campus) or Form Teacher (Senior Campus).  Once this information is available, students interested will need to nominate themselves by speaking with either Mr Bailey Wells (HPE Teacher – Junior/Middle) or Mr Cooper Sauvage (Sports Co-ordinator – Senior Campus) to receive the Trial Permission Form. Students must then return this form by the due date noted on the form in order to be eligible to trial.

Q: What can I expect at the trial?

A: Trials are a selection process that allow students in the region to demonstrate their skills in hopes of being selected to represent the District/Region – it is highly encouraged that students who play at a club level nominate themselves to trial. At the trial, a selector will put students through a number of skills/games to select the best possible team for the District/Region. If they are successful in being selected for the team, their team manager/coach will provide them with documents for the next step.

Q: School Carnival eligibility?

A: Each year, Roma State College provides students with 3 Major Carnivals – Cross Country (Term 1), Track & Field (Term 2) and Swimming (Term 4). After recording results for each of these carnivals, students will be nominated to trial for their relevant District Trial. This nomination is at the discretion of the College Sports Co-ordinator based on the following factors:

- previous year's District results

- Regional qualifying standards

- if the time/distance achieved by the student will be competitive at District level.

Q: Who can I speak to for more information?

A: If you have any further questions regarding District/Regional Sport, contact the College Sports Co-ordinator – Mr Cooper Sauvage (Senior Campus) or HPE Teacher – Mr Bailey Wells (Junior/Middle Campus).
