The Formula One Technology Challenge Takes off!!

Roma State College students in Years 7 through to 11 have eagerly commenced the F1 in Schools™ Technology Challenge, part of the Design and Technology curriculum. This is a worldwide competition involving secondary students in STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics). The educational outcomes for this challenge build real world skills for students. Industry and business leaders have long been calling for their future employees to be able to apply these skills, enhancing productivity and profitability.
Students learn about project management plans, resourcing, graphic design, manufacturing and engineering and project presentations.  These then develop those highly regarded employability skills in team work and communication.
The F1 program at Roma State College relies on seeking industry experts who operate in the STEM areas. Roma State College is currently seeking support and mentors in these fields.
Teams will compete in a range of levels with the end goal in 2017 to have a team make it to the National Finals.
 Teams will be judged in:
·         Engineering
·         Poster/Portfolio content
·         Marketing—Team Identity
·         Verbal Presentation
·         The Event Schedule so far:
·         Local Knock Outs—16th of June, Jubilee Hall Senior Campus
·         Regional Finals— 14th August, Concordia College, Toowoomba
·         State Finals—30th October—1st November, QUT, Brisbane.
·         Nationals—To be advised
·         International—To be advised
