Cross Country 2017

2017 Cross Country Information Update
Roma State College will be holding their annual Cross Country on Thursday, 4th May, with events for students from those turning 9 years old to Open Age categories.  It will be an afternoon event, beginning at 11:50am, with normal lessons beforehand.  Students will need to bring water bottles and their RSC bucket hat.  The theme for this year’s carnival will be “Active Wear”. Canteen will be operating on the day.
The event will be run slightly differently from previous years, with students completing a 2km time trial. 9 year olds will be completing a 1km loop and those who want to compete further will be running their relevant age group distances. Students’ times in the 10-18yrs categories will then be considered for the R&D trials, held in Mitchell on Friday, 19th May. The 2km course runs outside the school grounds, but staff are stationed at regular check points so students are always in sight, supervising them for the external course (see map attached).
Cross Country training is being conducted in Year 4-8 HPE lessons. Extra training is available every Monday afternoon, 3:15-4:00pm, and Wednesday morning, from 7:45am, on the Middle Campus oval.
All participants, regardless of placing in their age group, receive points for their house towards the House Participation Trophy.
If selected for R&D trials, the students will be required to participate in two cross country training sessions (Monday after school 3:15-4pm on the MC oval or Wednesday before school 7:45- 8:30am) to be eligible to attend the R&D carnival. Details of the R&D carnival will be sent home with students who make selection in the RSC team.
Students who are unable to be at our Cross Country on 4th May, will be able to submit a time by attending a trial on Monday, 1st May at 3:15pm on the Middle Campus oval during our normal Cross Country training. Please see Miss Stewart about alternative arrangements if you have other sporting or educational commitments at the time of our Cross Country.
