Cultural Tertiary Tour
Last week, 32 senior students, along with Mrs Deignan and Miss Hirning participated in the bi-annual Cultural Tertiary Tour. This year we left Roma State College early Wednesday morning and travelled to the USQ Toowoomba campus. While there, we experienced a tour of the university and college housing. Next on our journey we traversed through the Toowoomba Range, onwards to our accommodation destination at the Brisbane YHA.
Our first night in Brisbane saw us rent out a private cinema at the Blue Room Cinebar where everyone was treated to popcorn, drinks, lollies, and their own wood fire pizza. Thursday was a busy day visiting QUT and its Iglu housing apartments, before enjoying lunch at the village. Students then experienced cultural enrichment at the hands of GOMA’s Marvel Exhibit where they were able to view all the costumes, sketches, and graphic technology behind the creating of their much loved movies and comics, and then spent hours of fun discovering the new extensions of the Chermside Shopping Centre. Friday morning we all woke up bright eyed and bushy tailed ready for our final university tour at UQ and the many residential colleges on offer at the St Lucia Campus. They then had the privilege of viewing the matinee performance of Creative Generations, a Queensland State Schools production, showcasing the talents of our state’s young aspiring artists, before filling their bellies up with all the delectable cuisine options at the Eat Street Markets. Our final day on the trip involved us attending the Tertiary Studies Expo where many decided on their dream career paths. It was an absolute honour to be able to attend this trip with such a beautiful and appreciative group of students, and we hope that they all enjoyed themselves.
