Physiotherapy
Department of Education, Training and the Arts physiotherapy services are provided to students with disabilities enrolled in state schools and state education services. Physiotherapy services focus on the enhancement of education programs and outcomes for students with intellectual impairment, physical impairment, vision impairment, hearing impairment, speech-language impairment, autistic spectrum disorder or multiple impairments.
Physiotherapy services are delivered as part of the education program and are directed towards education outcomes for students with disabilities who have posture and movement disorders or delayed neuro-sensory motor development. The purpose of physiotherapy is to develop motor competencies to enhance or support students' educational goals, facilitating students' access and participation in the educational process.
Other service providers, including other government departments, non-government agencies and private practitioners may be involved in the provision of physiotherapy services to students in Queensland state schools. Departmental physiotherapists are committed to working collaboratively with other service providers to ensure high quality service provision for students with disabilities.
