Languages Other Than English (LOTE) / Intercultural Investigations

At Roma State College, the Key Learning Area of Languages other than English, will be replaced by Inter-Cultural Investigations. This subject, being undertaken by students in Years 6, 7 and 8, will compare aspects of culture, such as food, housing and celebrations between Australian and France.

Some French vocabulary will be taught as part of the investigation but there will be a larger element of English included. The assessment task which includes ICT components will be undertaken in English.

This change to the curriculum was approved at the Parents’ and Citizens’ meeting held on 12 August, 2008.
