A MESSAGE FROM THE P & C ASSOCIATION

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome to Roma State College. We hope that your association with the college will be happy and fulfilling for your children and family. As you will be aware this College is unique in many ways as it is spread over three campuses with a very close connection to TAFE.

The P & C Association is an active organisation, committed to improving the college in various ways. This P & C is committed to providing the best service that we can for our children with the resources available to us.

The P & C is responsible for the tuckshop at the Junior Campus, and we are attempting to have the other two tuckshops operating again in 2009. The tuckshops are operated with a convenor and volunteer parents to provide lunches at a low and accessible cost to all the college community, while following the Health Eating Guidelines required by the Government. We also have a fundraising committee who actively fundraise throughout the year to be able to provide extra equipment, books, computers and other assorted things to meet the expanding needs of the school community. A good example is the completion of the air-conditioning of the class rooms at the college campuses which was achieved by the hard work done by this and previous P&C’s at the college and campuses.

Roma State College is very much an integral part of the Roma community. We encourage all members of the college community (students, staff and parents) to become involved and participate in school events and for the parents to become involved with their children's educational environment. Volunteering to help at our tuckshops, assisting at fundraising events and helping in classrooms, are all excellent ways to support your college. If you are a new resident to the district or a first time parent of the college, this is a fantastic way to meet fascinating and interesting people in the community. Helping your college helps your children.

The P & C Association meet on the 2nd Tuesday of the month at the Middle Campus library at 7:00pm. These are friendly meetings that discuss the management of the various services and areas we are responsible for, how we will spend our fundraising dollars and other college issues. It is a great way to get to know what is going on in your college and or at your child’s campus.
